About Us
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Otsego County (CCE) is an organization that provides informal education for individuals of all ages. It has a history of conducting classes, workshops, tours and providing informational/educational brochures for over 85 years. It has been growing and changing to meet the needs of the local residents and is currently providing assistance in the areas of:
- Nutrition, Health and Safety
- Individual and Community Well Being
- 4-H/Youth Development
- Agriculture Competitiveness and Profitability
- Environmental Protection and Enhancement
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Otsego County (CCE) is a community based not-for-profit organization providing educational opportunities for the individuals of the county.
It was created by New York State law as a subordinate governmental agency to extend
the educational resources of Cornell University and the Land Grant University system to
the people of Otsego County. CCE's mission is "To enable people to improve their lives
and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to
work."
CCE receives funding and support from the Otsego County Board of Representatives, the
US Department of Agriculture, Cornell University, NYS Department of Health, and
Otsego County Department of Social Services. It also receives funds from program
participation fees, contracts and grants with other organizations and through fundraising
events.
CCE is a 501(c)3 organization governed by a 15 member Board of Directors with a staff
of 18 employees. In addition, over 400 volunteers assist in providing programs and
information to the residents.
Nearly all segments of the community benefit from the informal educational programs
that include 4-H/Youth Development, Health, Nutrition and Safety, Financial
Management, Agriculture, and Horticulture. It provides programming for all ages
ranging from prenatal to senior citizens. CCE maintains the unique position to
facilitate program development through coalitions. The Board of Directors and staff link
organizations together toward a common goal that is within the mission of CCE. |
